Miami Heat’s Orlando Robinson Is Bound For A Breakout Season

Second-year center Orlando Robinson has the perfect situation to have a breakout year

Miami Heat center Orlando Robinson s primed for a breakout year.

Following an opportunity-lacking rookie year, Robinson was awarded a two-way contract in the offseason. He split his time between the Heat and their G-League affiliate in Sioux Falls.

In early July, the Heat showed their belief by signing him to a two-year contract worth nearly $4 million.

In Summer League, Robinson showed flashes of becoming their next G League-to-rotation player sensation. He e averaged 29.3 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 4.6 assists on 57 percent shooting in Las Vegas. He was named First-Team All-Summer League.

The Heat are known for developing undrafted prospects into key rotational pieces such as Duncan Robinson, Gabe Vincent, and Haywood Highsmith. He also will receive mentorship from two-time All-Star Bam Adebayo, making it a perfect situation for Robinson.

He missed last postseason because of his contract but was on the court hours before tip-off.

"Every day in the playoffs when I knew I couldn't play, I was working that entire time, looking forward to this moment and this stage," Robinson said after scoring 36 points in a win against the Boston Celtics in summer league.  "And just come out here and compete and do my best and do the things I've been working on."
