Miami Heat's Thomas Bryant Getting More Adapted In New Surroundings

Thomas Bryant had arguably his best game in a Miami Heat uniform in Wednesday's win against the Cleveland Cavaliers

Miami Heat center Thomas Bryant never expected to happen overnight.

He knew it would take some to get acclimated after being acquired in the offseason. So Wednesday may have been indication he is gaining more comfort.

In the absence of Bam Adebayo, Bryant had 10 points, seven rebounds and one block in a victory against the Cleveland Cavaliers. It was arguably Bryant's best performance in a Heat uniform.

"I feel like I adapted more being out there with teammates and being with them in practice, shootaround, talking with the coaches, to understand the concept what we want to get done out there. I think that really helps."

Bryant had little time to prepare because Adebayo was a late scratch due to a bruised hip. They practice the mantra in the Heat locker room of "stay ready."

"The thing about us is we always have to stay ready no matter if we're playing or not," Bryant said. "We have to take responsibility and go out there and execute and do what we have to do. I'm glad they trusted me for this one."

The Heat are unsure if Adebayo plays Saturday against the New York Knicks. They are confident Bryant can fill in again if needed.

"Thomas' energy, his motor, extra effort and his touch and feel inside the paint is great for the center position," Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said.
