When Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro sustained a hand injury in the first round, the recovery period seemingly ended his season because no one believed the team would advance past the Milwaukee Bucks.

Now, the conversation of his return is starting to dominate headlines. Herro has steadily improved and could possibly come back as early as Game 2 against the Denver Nuggets. ESPN insider Adrian Wojnarowski gave the latest on NBA Today Thursday afternoon.

“I’m told that Game 2 on Sunday looms as a possibility for Tyler Herro,” Wojnarowski said. “He’ll have a couple more days to test out that fractured hand that is now healed. He’s on the court working out, it’s all about can that hand take contact?”

The Heat had success without him but still welcome his presence back in the lineup. Herro averaged 20.1 points on 38 percent shooting from 3-point range. He led the team in field goal attempts and percentage from the arc. He can further aid Miami’s No. 1 3-point shooting percentage this postseason. Herro can also serve as an offensive weapon if Bam Adebayo or Jimmy Butler have a lackluster performance.
