Miami Heat's Winning Is Contagious Among South Florida Athletes, Including Coco Gauff
The Miami Heat are not only winners but also inspiring others to win.
On Tuesday, South Floridian tennis player Coco Gauff credited the Heat for her second-round victory in the French Open. After dropping the first set against Spain’s Rebeka Masarova, Gauff rallied to victory in the next two.
She likened it to the Heat remaining composed after dropping three straight to the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference finals before winning Game 7 Monday night.
“Honestly, today I told myself if Jimmy Butler didn’t freak out when they were up 3–0 and then all of a sudden it was 3-all, then I shouldn’t freak out from losing the first set,” Gauff said.
Gauff's win continued for what has been a magical year for South Florida sports. The Heat and Florida Panthers are in the Finals while the Miami Hurricanes and Florida Atlantic made the men's NCAA Finals in April.
