NBA Media Personality JJ Reddick Calls The Miami Heat A Championship Contender
The media is beginning to take notice that the Miami Heat have been one of the best teams in the NBA over the past few weeks.
Retired NBA player JJ Reddick discussed the Heat on The Old Man and The Three Podcast.
“When this team is whole and healthy, they are a contender in the Eastern Conference and certainly a contender to win an NBA championship,” Reddick said about the Heat. “There’s a substance to that team when you get into April and May.”
The Heat had won five straight games prior to their most recent 103-97 loss to the Denver Nuggets Thursday night. The team sits as the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference. The Heat are just a half a game behind the fifth-seeded Philadelphia 76ers and 1.5 games back of the fourth-seeded New York Knicks. The eighth-seeded 2023 Heat even made it all the way to Game 5 of the NBA Finals.
Reddick does mention how continuity is needed for the Heat’s roster to have playoff success but then shouts out multiple Heat players for their contributions.
“Bam’s playing great he’s having another elite two-way season,” Reddick said. “Jaquez Jr. now is back to playing like he was prior to his injury. There’s just no (expletive) with their team.”
“They know how to win, make adjustments, Jimmy turns it on,” Reddick said about the Heat. Butler has been a steady force for the Heat when it comes to the playoffs. He averaged 26.9 points during the Heat’s run to the NBA Finals last year. Butler has averaged 24.7 points in the playoffs since joining the Heat. The team has made it to the Eastern Conference Finals in three of four full seasons on the team.
The Heat still have 23 games to go until the playoffs start. They play next on Saturday against the Utah Jazz.
