Takeaways From The Miami Heat's Loss Saturday To Orlando Magic
The Miami Heat are still having trouble defeating non-playoff teams. After Jimmy Butler hit a buzzer-beating 3-pointer to force overtime, the Orlando Magic outscored the Heat 18-6 to take the victory.
Here are some major takeaways from the game:
-Butler finished with a season-high 38 points on 56 percent shooting. It was the most points he scored since May. 27, 2022.
-Bam Adebayo's post-All-Star slump continued with another nearly invisible performance. He finished with 14 points on 7 of 17 shooting. He has scored under 20 points in five of the last six games.
-After being sidelined 15 games because of a knee injury, Kyle Lowry scored 12 points on 50 percent shooting. He came off the bench for the first time this season. The last time he came off the bench was on Jan. 26, 2013.
-Backup center Omer Yurtseven played in his first game of the season since undergoing foot surgery last October. The debut wasn't what the Heat hoped for. The rust was obvious, with Yurtseven going scoreless in seven minutes. He attempted one shot in the second quarter.
-The Heat’s starters failed to record a 3-pointer in the first half for the second straight game. Butler was the first to knock one down in the third quarter. The Heat shot 11 of 37 (29 percent) from the arc, one of their worst performances of the season.
-Victor Oladipo has now shot 9 of 30 in the last three games. He was 1 of 8 from the 3-point line against the Magic. In March, Oladipo is shooting 37 percent despite being given every opportunity to contribute.
