Three Years Ago, Jimmy Butler Led Miami Heat Over Los Angeles Lakers In Game 5 Of NBA Finals
Miami Heat superstar Jimmy Butler has a multitude of memorable postseason performances, but perhaps the most remembered is Game 5 of the 2020 NBA Finals.
Three years ago today, Butler and the Heat faced off against the Los Angeles Lakers in a must-win game for Miami. Down three-to-one in the series, Butler and the Heat rallied to defeat the Lakers 111-108.
Butler had arguably the best performance of the entire NBA Bubble with 35 points, 12 rebounds, 11 assists, and five steals.
Miami entered the playoffs as the No. 5 seed, upsetting the Indiana Pacers, Milwaukee Bucks, and Boston Celtics to reach the Finals.
Sharpshooter Duncan Robinson was Butler’s sidekick in this game, scoring 26 points on 53.8 percent shooting from three-point range. Miami’s stars Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro struggled in this game, scoring a combined 25 points.
The Lakers superstar duo, LeBron James and Anthony Davis, had memorable performances in their own right. James scored 40 points along with 13 rebounds, 7 assists, and 3 steals. Meanwhile, Davis had 28 points, 12 rebounds, 3 blocks, and 3 steals.
Although the Lakers would close out the series in Game 6, Butler’s historic performance gave the team hope following a narrow defeat in Game 4.
