Undrafted Drew Peterson Given A Chance After Securing Exhibit-10 Contract From Miami Heat
USC’s Drew Peterson did not hear his name called Thursday night but shortly after received an exhibit-10 deal from the Miami Heat.
An exhibit-10 contract is a one-year minimum that gives the Heat the freedom to convert it to a two-way contract before the start of the regular season.
Peterson declared for the draft after his third season at USC, where he averaged 13.9 points and 6.2 rebounds. He was first-team Pac-12 for two straight seasons. Peterson and the Trojans finished last season with a record of 22-11, losing in the first round of the NCAA tournament to Michigan State.
Before transferring to USC, where he chose to use his extra year of eligibility, Peterson spent his freshman and sophomore seasons at Rice. He averaged 8.1 points in 64 games.
Living up to the Heat’s expectations in the Summer League could lead to Peterson earning a roster spot next season. He could join Duncan Robinson and Max Strus as players who blossomed in the Heat system.
