Ten years ago, the Miami Heat had a center by the name of Hassan Whiteside.

He was considered a throwback because of his ability to dominant the paint on the offensive and defensive ends. In 2015, Whiteside made a point to emphasize his effectiveness after recording a rare triple-double with blocks.

"I see a lot of guys in the NBA getting triple doubles with assists," Whiteside said in the postgame interview. "Ain't nobody doing it with blocks. I knew I had to come out here. Nobody is doing it with blocks."

At the time, it was almost unheard of to happen. And then came San Antonio Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama, last year's No. 1 draft pick. He is proving that anything is possible these days.

The 7-foot-4 Wembanyama, known as "Wemby," had 27 points, 14 rebounds and 10 blocks Monday in the Spurs victory against the Toronto Raptors. He did it in just 29 minutes.

"I felt great today," Wembanyama said. "Great rhythm, started the game strong. I guess it's just the NBA, you know. We've got ups and downs in terms of shape, and today was an up day."

He is only the second player to record a triple-double with blocks (Clint Capela, 2021) since Whiteside.
