Was Miami Heat's Tyler Herro Disrespected By Criticism As Damian Lillard Rumors Swirled?

Miami Heat's Tyler Herro says he is continuing to improve in the midst of outside critiques.

Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro's annual trade rumors had some disrespecting his importance on the team.

His name was at the top of the list for the theoretical Damian Lillard packages, with many guaranteeing he'd be traded in the summer. However, the fifth-year guard is confident in himself, not letting the criticism affect his self-esteem.

“I know I’m a good basketball player," Herro said in an Tuesday interview with The Athletic. "I know the work I put in. It’s always changing. At first, they said I couldn’t be a 20-point scorer. Then I became a 20-point scorer, now I’m just a scorer. My assist and rebound numbers go up every year, no one can put a ceiling or a cap on my value because every year I get better.”

Hopefully, Herro can use that to fuel another Heat playoff run this season. Although they reached the Finals without him, his high-level scoring could have aided the team against the Denver Nuggets. Miami struggled offensively with an injured Jimmy Butler and lack of consistency from players like Caleb Martin and Gabe Vincent. Herro can prove his significance to the Heat with a redemption/revenge season.

The Heat play the Brooklyn Nets (0-2) at 7:30 p.m. in the home preseason final.
