Western Conference Recaps, March 15: Christian Wood Picks Up Slack For Injured Kyrie Irving, Luka Doncic For Mavericks

Christian Wood scored 28 points in win against San Antonio Spurs

With Kyrie Irving sidelined with a foot injury and Luka Doncic sidelined with a thigh injury, the Dallas Mavericks came close to losing a fourth consecutive game.

Christian Wood scored 28 points to lead them to a 137-128 victory against the San Antonio Spurs in overtime.

“We made two mistakes late in the game,” Dallas head coach Jason Kidd said. “It wasn’t where we were trying to make the mistakes. It just happens. As much as we look at them as numbers, we’re human. San Antonio took advantage of them.”

After being sidelined one game with a foot injury, Wood had his best game since Jan. 7. Rookie Jaden Hardy and Dwight Powell had 22 points.

Keldon Johnson led the Spurs with 27 points and rookie Malaki Branham had 20 off the bench.
