Spread & Over/Under Predictions for Hornets vs. Grizzlies
Each game day, we at All Hornets will release an article on our thoughts on the spread and the over/under of Charlotte Hornets games. The star ratings next to the play describe the overall confidence in that particular play.
Star ratings:
1 Star - Not very confident
2 Star - A little confident
3 Star - Fairly confident
4 Star - Very confident
5 Star - Should be a lock to happen
Spread: Grizzlies -4.5
1 Star play on the Hornets (+4.5): The Hornets might actually have the better roster among healthy players on both sides right now. With that said, they are on the second night of a back-to-back after being absolutely trounced by the Bucks last night.
In spite of that, this Grizzlies team is a good matchup for Charlotte. Brandon Miller should have ample opportunity to succeed tonight, and Jaren Jackson Jr. is the major focal point Charlotte needs to worry about.
I'd generally stay away from this line, but Charlotte is a fine enough pick at -4.5.
Over/Under: 216.5
3 Star play on the under: Memphis sports a 107.6 offensive rating, good for worst in the league this season and one of only two teams behind Charlotte's 109.0 rating.
Memphis may have the worst offense in the league, but no team has a worse defensive rating than Charlotte's 121.3. Neither of these teams play with a notable pace one way or the other, and the major sources of scoring for both teams are pretty apparent and narrow.
Add in that Charlotte is on the second night of a long back-to-back, the under is the preferred play here.
My picks this season
ATS: 7-3 (70.0%)
O/U: 4-6 (40.0%)
Overall: 11-9 (55.0%)
