BREAKING: Hornets Draft James Nnaji

Charlotte's pick is in!

The Charlotte Hornets have traded picks 34 and 39 to the Boston Celtics for pick number 31 and used that selection to take center James Nnaji out of Barcelona. He is 6'11 with a 7'5 wingspan and possesses a NBA-ready body.

This is an extremely high upside pick for Charlotte, as Nnaji has so much room to grow. He played on a professional team in Barcelona with highly successful pros, so he didn't have as much playing time as he would've liked. The biggest thing for him is to get consistent minutes and develop his game especially on the offensive end. He will get exactly that opportunity most likely in Greensboro to begin his NBA career.

Nnaji is very raw on the offensive end, but he offers the ability to be a play-finisher right from the jump. He is extremely strong for his age and has high-end athleticism to finish plays. He is very effective finishing around the basket, but he needs to grow into a more versatile offensive player.

His defense is what should have the Hornets very excited as he has flashed tremendous timing to contest and protect the rim. His length and mobility give him a good base to work with on becoming a true difference maker on defense.

Giving Nnaji the time he needs to develop could prove to be a great decision for this Charlotte organization.
