Hornets Outlast Raptors, 119-116

Charlotte picked up a home win over Toronto on Friday.
In this story:

The Charlotte Hornets bounced back from their Wednesday night loss in Chicago nicely at Spectrum Center on Friday. On the back of their hot three-point shooting, the Hornets built a lead that ballooned as large as 20 points in the first half.

Charlotte's improved defense also played a big part in them putting together a very impressive first half. As the game wore on, the Raptors battled back and the Hornets' defense was shell-shocked. It became a back-and-forth game as the final minutes of the fourth quarter arrived.

Some big shots from Terry Rozier, Miles Bridges, and Brandon Miller along with some clutch free throws helped the Hornets hold onto their lead down the stretch. Charlotte held on for the win, 119-116.

Best of the night:

Gordon Hayward continued his improved play as of late with a team-leading 24 points on 66.7% shooting. Hayward reverting to the norm after a rough shooting slump has provided a big lift for Charlotte, and they likely do not win on Friday without his strong all-around performance.

Worst of the night:

As strong as they played in the first half, the Hornets nearly gave up their lead in the second half. They will need to continue working on staying locked in on defense for a full four quarters.

Stat of the night:

Terry Rozier recorded eight assists in the first half on Friday, which was the second-most he has recorded in any half in his career. Additionally, the Hornets' 61.5% three-point shooting mark in the first half was their highest of any half this season.

Highlight of the night:

A few minutes before halftime, Brandon Miller took Pascal Siakam one-on-one and drove toward the rim, finishing with a high-degree-of-difficulty fadeaway jumper.
