The Charlotte Hornets moved to 1-1 on the season as they lost a close one to the Detroit Pistons at Spectrum Center Friday night. The Hornets fought hard against a scrappy team but were unable to overcome their costly mistakes.

Terry Rozier started the scoring out for Charlotte with a layup just over 90 seconds into the contest. But overall, the Hornets shot poorly to start the game and went behind by as many as 15 points in the first half.

After findings themselves down 36-21 in the second quarter, improved effort on defense forced nine straight misses or turnovers for Detroit to bring the Hornets back within three points. They went into the halftime break down seven.

While Charlotte was able to go on a few scoring runs and get within three points of the Pistons in the second half, they were unable to complete the comeback. Detroit played a physical style of basketball and wore down the Hornets.

Best of the night:

Brandon Miller registered a new career-best 17 points in his second career game. He shot 2-for-4 from behind the three point arc, while picking up a steal and a block as well. He continues to look composed and disciplined in his time on the court.

Worst of the night:

The Hornets were undisciplined on offense and committed 17 turnovers. They were beaten badly on the boards, getting out-rebounded by the Pistons 52 to 40.

Stat of the night:

With his 19 points, Terry Rozier officially passed Raymond Felton on the Hornets' all-time scoring list, becoming the seventh-highest scorer in franchise history.

Highlight of the night:

With five minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, Brandon Miller rose up in transition and threw down a dazzling dunk over the Pistons.
