Score Predictions for Hornets at Pelicans

Our staff picks tonight's game between Charlotte and New Orleans.

Ian Black: Pelicans 113, Hornets 97.

The Hornets have been struggling to score during the current five-game losing streak- breaking 100 only once during that time. The Pelicans are a strong team all around, ranking 12th in the league in offensive rating, and 7th in defense. Charlotte and their 120.7 defensive rating, the second-worst mark in the league, will have a tough time keeping up if they cannot find a spark.

Prediction record: 4-1.

James Plowright: Pelicans 115, Hornets 108.

I'm expecting (Or maybe hoping) to see a reaction of sorts following the team's players-only meeting. New Orleans will still have too much for Charlotte in the end, but I'm hopeful of a more competitive showing and a change in body language. The Hornets still have 44 more games to play, if they have given up already it's going to be a LONG season. Whatever the Jonas Valanciunas points over/under is, take the over, he feasts on Charlotte's weak interior defense.

Prediction record: 18-4.

Pat Fitzsimmons: Pelicans 114, Hornets 110.

The last time these two teams met the Pelicans won by five and were led by Valanciunas with 29 points and 13 rebounds. The Hornets were without Mark Williams and LaMelo Ball that game, so the addition of LaMelo will help tremendously. I am optimistic the Hornets come out with a sense of urgency after the players only-meeting and keep it close. However, I suspect the lack of depth in the frontcourt for the Hornets will struggle to contain the high-scoring Pelicans and their size advantage will be too much to over come for the Hornets.

Prediction record: 1-0.
