Score Predictions for Hornets vs. Rockets

Our staff picks tonight's game between Charlotte and Houston.
In this story:

Schuyler Callihan: Rockets 119, Hornets 105.

The Hornets have really struggled defending the paint all season long and tonight presents a tough challenge with Alperen Sengun, who leads Houston in scoring at 22.1 points per game. For a sub .500 team, Houston has a fairly deep roster when it comes to scoring options. Meanwhile, Charlotte is coming off a disappointing road loss to Detroit. I don't expect a young Hornets team to move on from that one just two days later.

Prediction record: 18-7.

James Plowright: Rockets 117, Hornets 108.

I have a feeling Charlotte might struggle to play up to standard until post trade deadline, these players are human beings and it is hard when your name is in the rumor mill every day. Houston plays a tough, physical style of basketball which has often been the downfall of the Hornets. Expect Dillon Brooks to try and make LaMelo Ball's night miserable and Nick Richards to be a step slow against the advanced post moves of Alperen Sengun.

Prediction record: 21-5.

Sam Dracula: Rockets 115, Hornets 102.

After struggling to compete against the Pistons, I expect the Hornets to have another rough night against the superior Rockets. Alperen Sengun should continue to operate effortlessly in the paint against this Charlotte team - he’s playing very well by the way. Sengun is averaging 25 PPG, 11 RPG, and 7 APG the last five games for Houston. Jabari Smith Jr. is expected to return from his ankle injury. Houston has too many weapons for this undermanned Hornets squad to keep up with.

Prediction record: 1-1.

Atticus Ferguson: Rockets 124, Hornets 111.

The Rockets have a leg up in the paint, and I believe they have a leg up in coaching as well. This Hornets team will likely play like a distracted team until the dust settles from the trade deadline, and possibly even the buyout market. I think Charlotte picks up a win this weekend. Tonight’s not the night, however.

Prediction record: 12-4.

'Half the League' Could Be Interested in Trading for Nick Richards
