NBA Legend Carmelo Anthony aka Melo recently appeared on the "7pm in Brooklyn" podcast to discuss all things NBA. During the episode, Anthony was asked how he feels about the "New" Melo (LaMelo Ball) showing up and gave a philosophical answer.

In March 2021, Carmelo attended the Hornets-Blazers game and took part in a jersey swap with the Charlotte Hornets star. During that interaction, Carmelo revealed what he told Ball

Anthony on his message to Ball: "What's up champ? I just wanna let you, you don't gotta worry about that name, like you got it. Do what you do. I'm supportive of you."

Carmelo Anthony officially retired in May 2023 after a hall of fame career. Will the new "Melo" following in his namesake's footsteps to become one of the cultural icons of the NBA? Only time will tell.
