Cliff Notes: Early Impressions of Brandon Miller, How Miles Bridges Has Looked + More

Charlotte Hornets head coach Steve Clifford spoke with the media Thursday afternoon.
In this story:

Today's practice

"The intensity today was the best it's been. One of the other things is even as good as these guys are is every year, besides getting a foundation of play, it's the right intensity, the right concentration. And that, we've been great with. All the guys are setting the tone. And when your veteran players, your better players practice like Gordon [Hayward] and Terry [Rozier] are, everybody else is going to follow."

Early impressions of Brandon Miller

He has IQ. When you watch him play, his decision-making, it makes sense. You can't teach that. Guys that play like Steph [Curry], the skill level is one thing but decision-making, you don't change that. Guys that struggle to make decisions always struggle to make decisions. Guys like him, just naturally has a feel for the game."

How Miles Bridges has looked

"Good. Today was his best day. He shot the ball well. You know, it's hard when you don't play for that long. He's actually surprised me with just how in rhythm he is. He spent a lot of time in the gym last year just working out because the skill parts, again, have surprised me."

Position battles

"They're not all going to play 82 games. So I don't really look at it so much that way as I do making sure I have an idea in my mind and obviously, the staff weighs in on this too and Mitch [Kupchak] - Where's this guy? Where's that guy? It's different now because guys don't go into the season thinking they're going to play every game anymore, so you got to have a lot of guys that are going to contribute."
