In this story:

Sportsbooks have started releasing Over/Under win totals for the 2023-24 NBA season. Despite the pending restricted free agency of PJ Washington and the question mark over Charlotte's back-up point guard position, the Hornets have a line listed.

Caesars Sportsbook 29.5

BetRivers 31.5

Draftkings Sportsbook 31.5

With 31.5 being the more common line across books, we will use that as the de facto Hornets line for the time being. With a 31.5 over/under win total Charlotte project to have the joint 5th worst record according to sportsbooks. Charlotte are tied with the Houston Rockets (Also 31.5), the only teams listed below Charlotte are the Spurs (30.5), Pistons (26.5) and Wizards (25.5).

This will come as a shock to fans who saw the Hornets finish with 27 wins last season despite tanking the last 15 games and suffering a plethora of injury and suspension issues. To expect this season's improvement to amount to four additional wins suggests the NBA don't see Charlotte breaking out to compete for a Play-In spot next season.
