Report: Hornets Express Interest in Former Nets Guard
Charlotte Hornets general manager Mitch Kupchak feels pretty comfortable with how the roster looks at the moment, stating that there aren't many moves left to be made.
"I'm not necessarily feeling that we have to add a lot more talent," Kupchak stated earlier this week. "I think the talent is in the system. We're not the oldest team, so perhaps you look for a veteran to give some more leadership. But I think the talent that we need to get to where we want to go is here."
He did, however, note that there is still a need for a backup ball-handling guard. The Hornets have been unable to address that role since Dennis Smith Jr. departed for Brooklyn a couple weeks back. But the Nets organization may just be where they find their DSJ replacement.
According to Mike Scotto of HoopsHype, the Hornets have expressed interest in veteran guard, Edmond Sumner. The Bucks, Raptors, Heat, and Suns are also in the mix, per Scotto.
In 53 games with the Nets this past season, Sumner averaged 7.1 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game and shot the ball 46% from the floor and 35% from three-point land.
