Hornets Sign Kobi Simmons to a Two-Way Contract

An opportunity for the youngster.
In this story:

The Charlotte Hornets have agreed on a two-way contract with Kobi Simmons.

Kobi Simmons has been a part of the Greensboro Swarm for most of the 2022-23 season. In 32 games, Simmons has averaged 18.2 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 4 assists per game. Simmons is one of the better players on the Swarm squad and definitely deserves a chance to play with the big league club in the final remaining games.

With the Hornets' eyes on the future of the team, it is a smart idea to give younger players an opportunity and even evaluate them. That and it is best to ensure no long-term injury to top players. Just look at the last injury report and it is not a pretty sight.

It's better to be safe than sorry here and shutting down players for the season can ensure they're healthy next season.

The first time Simmons checks into the game, it will mark his first game in the NBA in four years as the last time he played was with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2019.
