LaMelo Ball Voices Frustration

The Charlotte Hornets guard was not happy Friday night.

The Detroit Pistons played a style of basketball Friday night that the Charlotte Hornets aren't totally accustomed to. Bully ball. It was an extremely physical matchup from start to finish and the Hornets were unable to match that toughness in the paint.

However, there were more than a few questionable calls in the second half as Charlotte attempted to cut into the deficit. I wouldn't go as far as saying it felt like a one-sided called game but the Hornets weren't the beneficiary of several 50/50 calls. Hornets point guard LaMelo Ball discussed his frustration with the matter in his postgame press conference.

“Pretty much they came and hit first, and then it seemed like when we tried to get physical back, we were getting called," Ball said. "It pretty much didn’t go our way. ...We were trying. Every time you get physical it’s a call and their way it’s no call, so that’s a tough one. ...It’ll throw you off when you see somebody pushing you in the back over there and it’s no call, then you come down here and you do the same thing and it’s a foul. It’s tough to play like that, but you take it and learn from it and come to the next game and be ready.”

The officiating did not cost the game and Ball knows that. It was the rebounding and turnovers. But the ticky tack calls didn't help the matter. Regardless, the Hornets have to put this one behind them quickly and get ready for Brooklyn on Monday night.
