Orlando Crushes Charlotte On the Glass En Route to Victory

The Hornets move to 15-40 on the season.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - We're now 55 games deep into the 2022-23 season and the Charlotte Hornets hold a 15-40 record after falling to the Orlando Magic 119-113 Sunday afternoon.

Orlando's size affected Charlotte seemingly all afternoon long. They were getting just about every rebound and had several second and third opportunities following a missed shot, finishing with 20 second chance points.

Terry Rozier and LaMelo Ball carried Charlotte on the offensive end of the floor, combining for 57 points on 22/36 shooting (9/18 3FG).

After falling behind by as many as twelve in the third quarter, the Hornets scrapped their way back into it and in the opening minute of the fourth, Ball put the Hornets back on top, 91-90, by hitting a three, recording a steal, and hitting a pull up three in transition.

Orlando regrouped followed an early timeout and went on an 11-2 run to take a 102-97 lead. The biggest problem for the Hornets in the final minutes of the game stemmed from their struggles at the free throw line. As a team, Charlotte went just 1/9 at the charity stripe, ultimately allowing Orlando to pull away.

The Hornets will hit the road once again after having a couple of days off. Charlotte will square off against the Washington Wizards on Wednesday at 7 p.m. EST.
