P.J. Washington Bids Farewell, Thanks Hornets Fans

It's onto the next chapter for P.J. Washington.
In this story:

Earlier this week, the Charlotte Hornets agreed to trade P.J. Washington to the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for Seth Curry, Grant Williams, and a protected 2027 first-round pick.

In a everyone-goes-home deal, it's a trade that all parties are excited about. However, anytime you leave a place that you've grown to call your home away from home, it's always tough. And for P.J. Washington leaving Charlotte is bittersweet.

"I think it was tough on P.J. I know he's from Dallas, but I did speak to him yesterday and he was emotional," Hornets GM Mitch Kupchak said in a conference call on Friday. "In fact, last night at the airport, I didn't see him but Buzz ran into him and he was on his way to Dallas to check in for his physical and I think Buzz said he got a little teary-eyed. I've been doing this a long time and it's never easy to call up a player or talk to a player (and tell them they've been traded)."

Friday morning, Washington made sure to thank Hornets fans in a farewell post on Instagram.

"Buzz CityI appreciate you guys for supporting me from day 1 through all the ups and downs. I’ve made so many friendships and long-lasting relationships that I will always cherish. I can’t believe my time here is up but I’ll always be grateful for the opportunity. Love 25."
