Score Predictions for Hornets vs Raptors
Schuyler Callihan: Raptors 121, Hornets 104
Fred VanVleet absolutely diced up Charlotte's defense on Sunday going for 20 points and 20 assists. Head coach Steve Clifford pointed out how they had no answer for him in the PnR game. Even with a day to watch film and prepare, I don't expect much to change. The Hornets are down a number of players, potentially even Mark Williams. Raptors roll.
James Plowright: Raptors 122, Hornets 109
The Raptors beat the "Greensboro Hornets" by 20 on Sunday and I'm expecting a repeat. However, look for Charlotte's young players to have learned from some of their mistakes from the first game, especially their PnR coverage with VanVleet. These back-to-back games against Toronto are useful for coaches to see how players adapt and learn against opponents in a playoff-style match-up. I'm backing Charlotte to make this one a little closer and also for the Raptors to take their foot off the pedal.
Desmond Johnson: Raptors 115, Hornets 105
Charlotte's young pups get another outing vs the Raptors. I'm not sure I like the quirky scheduling this year by the NBA, playing the same team back-to-back on numerous occasions in the same location. I'm curious to see guys like Kobe Simmons who signed a two-way deal last week and is a regular on the Greensboro Swarm roster. Look for the more experienced Raptors to hold on at the end for a late-season victory.
