Spread & Over/Under Predictions for Hornets vs Cavaliers

Can the Hornets cover the spread?

Each game day, we at All Hornets will release an article on our thoughts on the spread and the over/under of Charlotte Hornets games. The star ratings next to the play describe the overall confidence in that particular play.

Star ratings:

1 Star - Not very confident

2 Star - A little confident

3 Star - Fairly confident

4 Star - Very confident

5 Star - Should be a lock to happen

Spread: Cavaliers -7.5

1 Star play on the Cavaliers: Over the last two seasons, the Hornets have struggled on the second leg of back-to-backs. That won't change tonight, especially if they are without Mark Williams (thumb) yet again. Nick Richards and Kai Jones did a good job of blocking shots in last night's game, but other than that, their rim protection was very poor. They gave up several offensive rebounds and allowed 66 points in the paint. Cleveland will live in the paint all night and cover the spread.

Over/Under: 219.5

2 Star play on the under: The Cavs are viewed as one of the best defenses in the league and since the All-Star break, the Hornets have the best defensive rating in the NBA. The under has cashed in nine of the last ten Hornets' games and I see that trend continuing this evening as the bugs fail to reach the century mark.

My picks for the season

ATS: 20-18 (53%)

O/U: 23-15 (61%)

Overall: 43-33 (57%)
