Spread & Over/Under Predictions for Hornets vs Raptors

Can the Hornets cover the spread?

Each game day, we at All Hornets will release an article on our thoughts on the spread and the over/under of Charlotte Hornets games. The star ratings next to the play describe the overall confidence in that particular play.

Star ratings:

1 Star - Not very confident

2 Star - A little confident

3 Star - Fairly confident

4 Star - Very confident

5 Star - Should be a lock to happen

Spread: Hornets +7

1 Star play on the Hornets covering: Coming off of a fantastic cover against the Los Angeles Lakers this past Monday, the Hornets offense appears to have caught a buzz behind the emergence of Brandon Miller. With the Hornets posting a dreadful 9-16 ATS record at home so far this season, in addition to the Raptors managing a dead even 13-13-1 ATS on the road themselves, neither team can be trusted too much here. In what is sure to be a dog fight between two of the lowliest teams in the Eastern Conference, I feel compelled to take the points with the home dog as Miller continues to thrive in the absence of LaMelo Ball.

Over/Under: 225.5

2 Star play on the over: The fact the Hornets were able to contend and cover against Lebron James and the rest of the Lakers crew is nothing to be sniffed at. I expect them to find another hot start to the contest here tonight. As a bonus, the only winning records these two teams have are in regards to the over. The Hornets are currently 26-23 O/U while the Raptors rank one game ahead of them with a record of 27-23 O/U. The only thing on the line tonight is pride, as the Hornets hope to snap an eight game losing streak. Charlotte has also cleared this number in six of their last nine games now, so the precedent is there for another night of scoring in the Queen City.
