Mitch Kupchak believes the Charlotte Hornets are "close" to being a playoff team. But how do the oddsmakers view the young squad?

According to BetOnline, the Hornets have the fourth-best odds to win the Southeast Division, falling behind the Heat, Hawks, and strangely, the Magic.

Miami Heat: 5/9 (-180)

Atlanta Hawks: 21/10 (+210)

Orlando Magic: 9/1 (+900)

Charlotte Hornets: 20/1 (+2000)

Washington Wizards: 100/1 (+10000)

Miami is the clear-cut favorite and will assert themselves as such if they are able to acquire Damian Lillard from the Portland Trail Blazers. Beyond Miami, there's a lot of uncertainty. The Hornets could catch a lot of people by surprise if they are able to stay healthy, Miles Bridges is the same player he was two years ago, and if Brandon Miller makes an immediate impact as a scoring wing.

After the long, dreadful season in 2022-23, very few remember just how good this Hornets team can be. With better depth and improved defense under Steve Clifford, Charlotte could sneak into the playoffs.
