Utah Jazz assistant coach Alex Jensen has decided to stay with the team after interviewing for the head coaching position at the University of Utah. Jensen played for the Utes from 1994-2000, and took part in the 1998 National Championship game against Kentucky. Jensen's alma mater was interested in bringing him back to the University as the new Head Coach after firing former head man Larry Krystkowiak last week.

Jazz Head Coach Quin Snyder commented on Jensen's importance to the Utah Jazz  after KSL Sport's Ben Anderson asked him about the Utes interest in his assistant.

Snyder said, "Well, without commenting on the specific interview or search process, I think it's fairly obvious and known how I feel about Alex." Snyder continued. "He's incredibly important to our program, to me personally, in so many ways, whether it be game management, the things that people see the most of, our preparation process and teaching. He just checks all those boxes. I think people in the Jazz know how talented Alex is."

ESPN NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski broke the news during the NBA trade deadline yesterday afternoon.

2013 was a big year for Jensen as he was named as the D-League's Coach of the Year for his work with the Canton Charge. Jensen was then hired by the Utah Jazz in 2013, where he began working as an assistant coach. Although he has been interviewed for different positions at both college and NBA levels, he has remained loyal to the Utah Jazz and Quin Snyder.
