On Friday night, the Utah Jazz took home a much-needed win in their first In-Season Tournament game against the Memphis Grizzlies. It marks their third win of the year, pushing them to better hopes of securing a bid to Las Vegas in December with a 1-0 tourney start.

During the night, we saw rookie G Keyonte George have a stellar game when it came to distributing the basketball. He dished out 11 total assists on only two turnovers, proving that he has what it takes to be the future point guard of this franchise.

His performance was enough to get the attention of former Jazzman G Donovan Mitchell, who had some positive words for the rookie under a tweet from Tony Jones of The Athletic:

The rookie Jazz guard’s first few reps as a starter have been extremely productive when it comes to distributing the ball, securing a 6.6 AST/TO ratio within his past two games. His elite playmaking has seemingly since gained the respect of the All-Star, hopefully proving to be a positive sign for Utah fans.

Mitchell spent his first five seasons in the league with the Jazz, appearing in three All-Star games while averaging 23.9 points, 4.2 rebounds and 4.5 assists in 345 games played. Even while being dealt away in the 2022 NBA offseason to the Cleveland Cavaliers, Spida still has some lasting love for the franchise that drafted him.

George and the Jazz will take the floor once again on Tuesday when the team returns to Utah to face the Portland Trail Blazers in their second In-Season Tournament game of the year.
