Jazz Lose Keyonte George to Injury in Summer League Win Over Nuggets
The Utah Jazz improved their Las Vegas Summer League record to 3-0 after defeating the Denver Nuggets 96-91 on Wednesday night at Cox Pavilion. The Jazz employed a balanced team approach after rookie sensation Keyonte George suffered an ankle injury just prior to halftime.
The final score is a bit deceiving as the Jazz led by as many as 26 points in the first half of play. Losing George was an initial shock the Jazz eventually overcame.
The Jazz registered five double-digit scorers, led by Ochai Agbaji and Luka Samanic, who each scored 14 points. Forward Keshawn Justice landed a respectable stat line consisting of 12 points and eight boards, while Colbey Ross and Nick Ongenda tossed in 11 points apiece.
The Nuggets remained winless in Vegas Summer League action and were led in scoring by Julian Strawther's 21 points. Denver received a nice all-around performance from forward Hunter Tyson, who scored 19 points to go along with 12 rebounds. All of Denver's starters registered a + game rating.
The headliner was clearly the injury to George, but Jazz Nation should remain patient until additional information is provided.
The Jazz will next face the Phoenix Suns Friday night at 9:00 pm MST, and the game can be viewed on ESPN2.
