Will Hardy's Jazz Embarrassed by Mavericks in Historic Road Loss
The Dallas Mavericks shellacked the Utah Jazz, 147-97, in what was the second-worst loss in franchise history. The worst loss in Jazz history was a 56-point defeat at the hands of the Milwaukee Bucks in 1979
Folks, this contest was decided early in the first quarter, with Luka Doncic making history with the first-ever 25-plus point first-half triple-double. Doncic finished the first half with 29 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists.
Doncic completed his night with 40 points, 11 assists, 10 rebounds, and 1 steal in less than 32 minutes of action. He also posted a +34 game script and notched his 60th career triple-double. Doncic moved into sole possession of ninth place all-time in triple-doubles in NBA history ahead of Larry Bird.
The Jazz dressed 11 players who all received playing time and recorded negative game ratings led by Keyonte George's -48 score. To further substantiate how nasty this game was, John Collins and Simone Fontecchio both dropped -40 game ratings, and Omer Yurtseven landed a -35 score.
I'm not sure what pre-game meal was consumed, but hopefully, it will be permanently removed from Utah's team buffet. As awful as the Jazz performed, the Mavericks unleashed the "All-Everything" Doncic.
This outing must be frustrating for the Jazz as they were operating on three days' rest and now lead the NBA with 10 road defeats in the 11 games away from home.
The Jazz will next face the Los Angeles Clippers Friday night in SLC at 8:00 PM.
