Jazz Announce New TV Broadcast Deal & it's Great News for Fans
The 12-year broadcasting agreement the Utah Jazz had with AT&T SportsNet expired in 2021, but a negotiating window kept the games on the network through this past season. Now, the Jazz will be returning to their roots, per KSL Sports' Ben Anderson, and it's great news for fans.
"The Utah Jazz will be returning to KJZZ for the 2023-24 season. The team will also offer a streaming option for fans through the team's website," Anderson tweeted on Tuesday.
Jazz majority owner and governor Ryan Smith, who also helms Smith Entertainment Group, plans to launch SEG Media to "produce and broadcast" Utah's games in 2023-24.
“This new approach is one of the most important investments we have made since purchasing the team because it allows us to deliver Utah Jazz games to all 3.3 million plus Utahns,” Smith said via press release to KSL.
Per Anderson, the games will still be called by Craig Bolerjack, Thurl Bailey, and Holly Rowe, with Michael Smith and Alema Harrington hosting the Jazz pre and post-game television broadcasts. Jazz fans can find KJZZ for free over the air on channel 14.1, and per KSL, content covering the team will begin airing on the channel as soon as the NBA draft, which arrives on Thursday evening of this week.
While we don't yet know what Smith's fledgling streaming service will cost Jazz fans quite yet, all will be known in due time.
“I want every single Jazz fan, no matter where they are in the state and beyond, to be able to watch our games in any format that they want to,” Smith said. “I want it to be easy.”
