Jazz-Pelicans Injury Report: Zion, Markkanen, Clarkson Status Revealed
The Utah Jazz are coming off a narrow 105-100 victory against the New Orleans Pelicans, and now look to build on top of their performance come Monday night in a rematch.
Saturday night proved to be a short-handed night for both teams with Utah losing All-Star Lauri Markkanen and Jordan Clarkson, as well as New Orleans being without Zion Williamson and CJ McCollum. However, we now have an update surrounding the status of each squad for Monday:
Utah Jazz:
Jordan Clarkson (illness)- AVAILABLE
Lauri Markkanen (hamstring)- OUT
Josh Christopher (G-League)- OUT
Johnny Juzang (G-League)- OUT
Micah Potter (G-League)- OUT
New Orleans Pelicans:
Zion Williamson (rest)- AVAILABLE
C.J. McCollum (chest)- OUT
Trey Murphy III (knee)- OUT
Matt Ryan (calf strain)- OUT
While the Jazz will be without their All-Star forward in Markkanen, there is no indication for first-round picks Taylor Hendricks and Brice Sensabaugh. Both have recently been spending time in the G-League, but look to be in attendance for Monday’s contest.
Walker Kessler will appear in his second game back from an elbow injury, however, his starting status remains in question. Omer Yurtseven showed up in place at the center position on Saturday, posting six points and seven boards, but will likely resort back to a bench role once Kessler is 100%.
As for the Pelicans, Zion Williamson is ready to suit up after resting in Saturday’s back-to-back. Williamson has yet to play a back-to-back this season, but a few day's rest has him pinned back into the lineup. CJ McCollum will continue to miss time, being out since November 4th with a collapsed lung.
The Jazz will face off against the Pelicans to make it two straight in the Delta Center on Monday at 6 PM MT.
