Jazz HC Will Hardy Speaks Highly of Kris Dunn’s Preseason Campaign

The former top five selection is making a name for himself on the Utah Jazz.

One of the most pleasant surprises for the Utah Jazz throughout the 2023 NBA preseason has been the emergence of G Kris Dunn. Entering the league in 2016 as the 5th-overall selection, it looks like the now eight-year vet is finding a second wind for his NBA career.

Jazz HC Will Hardy had some encouraging words for Dunn after his eye-catching start to the preseason, pinning him as an important part of the team this year, per Tony Jones of The Athletic:

“His decision-making continues to improve. He's a very good guard, all around. His shooting has improved. He's showing he can knock down the three. He's an important part of our team"

Through his first four preseason games, Dunn has knocked down 13 of his 14 total shots from the field, coming out to be an absurd 92%. Of course, it is a small sample size and one to take with a grain of salt, but it continues to show Dunn’s effectiveness when getting quality looks off the bench.

Combine this newfound offensive production with his high-end perimeter defensive presence, and he continues to make a case for being one of the most impactful guards on this entire roster.

Dunn showed off some flashes during his 22 regular season games last year when he posted some impressive splits in the 25 minutes a night he was getting (53.7/47.2/77.4). If he can sustain any of this throughout the 2023-24 year, there is no question KD will be a vital piece within Will Hardy’s backcourt rotation.

The former Providence product will look to build on top of his momentum during the final Jazz preseason game against the Sacramento Kings on Thursday, October 19th.
