Report: Jazz’s Sexton, Clarkson, Horton-Tucker ‘Considered Available'

The Utah Jazz could end up as prime candidates to make a move in the coming weeks.

In less than two weeks away from the looming NBA trade deadline, the Utah Jazz continue to be at the center of numerous rumors. Currently sitting at an even .500 record at 23-23, this team can either add or subtract to the talent on this roster depending on what direction this front office wants to go.

Now over halfway through the season, a Play-In appearance in the West is well within the cards. The Jazz are firmly within the race to reach the top 10 in the conference, sitting 1.5 games ahead of the 11-seeded Houston Rockets.

Still, it seems Utah could opt to take the route of a seller if the market is right.

According to a report from Jake Fischer of Yahoo! Sports, the Jazz have made it clear that several of their current guards can be acquired via trade ahead of the February 8th deadline:

"The Utah Jazz are being considered both a buyer and seller at this juncture, with ball-handlers Jordan Clarkson, Collin Sexton, and Talen Horton-Tucker considered available for trade, sources said. And while the Jazz are confident in rookie Keyonte George’s fitness as their point guard of the future, the Jazz have also registered interest in several veterans, including [Dejounte] Murray, sources said, to possibly hold the position in the interim."

So far through their 2023-24 campaigns, Clarkson and Sexton have been key contributors in Utah’s recent stretch of success. Sexton's been a reliable secondary scoring option next to Lauri Markkanen since becoming a starter, and Clarkson as a sixth man has brought a welcomed spark back to his game after starting the season a bit shakier. As for Horton-Tucker, he has yet to secure close to the same PT he had earlier in the year, now stuck being the odd man out of the rotation.

Considering where the Jazz team state is as a whole, it’s not too surprising to see the front office have an open approach when it comes to potentially dealing some of their pieces away. If an appealing offer comes across the desk of Danny Ainge, seeing one or more of these guys shipped off to help move toward the long-term goals of this franchise would be a reasonable expectation.

The chance of pooling in these players for a deal to acquire a veteran like Dejounte Murray also doesn’t seem to be out of the cards. While the price has remained steep for the Atlanta Hawks guard, the Jazz have the means to put up a tempting package to get him.

It would likely take a notably appealing offer to pry either Clarkson or Sexton away from Utah. It seems to at least be on the table, but it won’t be easy. Stay posted across the coming weeks to see how the Jazz take on this turbulent time across the association.
