Jazz Announce New Streaming Service Details
On Wednesday morning, the Utah Jazz announced its plan to broadcast games for the upcoming 2023-24 season. Fans can catch the games on KJZZ while also tuning into the new streaming service called Jazz+. Owner Ryan Smith announced the news via Twitter/X.
“Big day everyone!” Smith tweeted. “Jazz+ is here! Between KJZZ and Jazz+ everyone can catch the action. Much more to come!”
This is great news for Jazz fans who live within a 150-mile radius of the Delta Center. Jazz+ gives the locals an affordable way to stream live games without dealing with the blackout-out restrictions currently existing with the NBA Pass. The development also gives Jazz control over its local broadcast rights.
The new streaming service provides different payment options moving forward. Jazz fans can pay for the whole season in one shot for $125.50 or $15.50 a month. There’s also an option to pay for an individual game for $5.50.
Whether this model is the way of the future remains to be seen, but other franchises following suit will be something to keep a close eye on down the road. Smith took note of how it may play out in an interview with ESPN.
“I think every team is going to have to look at the variables and run through their own kind of formula on, 'Hey, it's gonna be more work to start, but long term you're gonna have that, that freedom,' right?,” Smith said. “That freedom to go and build your brand.”
Utah’s season is just around the corner, with the first regular season game slated for October 25 versus the Sacramento Kings.
