Jazz G Jordan Clarkson Sixth Man of the Year Odds Revealed
Despite starting 19 games this season, Utah Jazz guard Jordan Clarkson is back in the conversation for Sixth Man of the Year. DraftKings are giving Clarkson a 7-1 chance to win the award for the second time in his career. Tim Hardaway (+140) and Malik Monk (+210) are the only two players who have better odds.
Clarkson’s first game as a reserve didn't come until March 12, when he scored 30 points versus the Toronto Raptors. In 18 games he’s averaging 19.3 points coming off the bench.
Clarkson’s time on the court hasn’t suffered since being regulated to back up duty. He’s played over 30 minutes in 11 of those 18 games and dipped under 25 minutes in only three contests. Jazz head coach Will Hardy has had Clarkson finishing the game over starting point guard Kris Dunn.
This all bodes well for Clarkson’s stock if Utah decides to part ways before the trade deadline. Teams contending for a title are always looking for a spark plug from the bench. Clarkson not only has the skillset teams need but also has a team-friendly contract moving forward.
Trading Clarkson may have always been in the plans for Utah. The Jazz rewarded Clarkson with a three-year 51.5 million dollar last summer. They front-loaded the first year with 23.4 million, leaving a 28.3 million split between the 2024-25 and 2025-26 seasons. An even distribution would have made it much more difficult to unload Utah’s most tenured player.
If the right offer doesn’t come along, the Jazz should be content to keep Clarkson. With Utah in the conversation for a playoff spot, waiting a year to make a trade makes sense. His trade value should go up once what’s owed in the first year is in the rearview mirror.
According to the rumor mill, the New York Knicks are one of the teams targeting Clarkson. They’ll get a firsthand look at what Clarkson has to offer when Utah finishes its six-game road trip at Madison Square Garden this Tuesday.
