Jazz Most Likely Players to Be Traded Revealed
The Utah Jazz continue to reshape their roster brick by brick as we inch closer to the 2023-24. But despite the recent roster shakedowns, Jazz fans should still expect more moves before the season’s end.
Which players are most likely to get traded this upcoming season? Let’s examine
Kelly Olynyk
Olynyk is very likely to be suiting up for another team at some point this year. The second-year Jazzman contract expires at the end of the year and will be coveted by teams looking to get under the luxury tax next season.
Letting Olynyk go would also clear a path for No. 9 overall pick Taylor Hendricks to get more minutes on the court. I would be floored if Olynyk was employed by the Jazz past the trade deadline.
Talen Horton-Tucker
Here’s another player with an expiring contract that is most likely in his last year with the Jazz. The overabundance of guards on Utah’s roster makes ‘THT’ expendable moving forward.
Also, the possibility of Utah going all in on Keyonte George creates a scenario where minutes could be harder to come by as the season moves along.
That said, don’t count Horton-Tucker out in regard to being the starting point guard himself. Could this be the year the second-year Jazzman makes a huge jump in development?
Collin Sexton
Re-signing Jordan Clarkson to a three-year extension makes one wonder what Sexton's role is moving forward. Here we have two players that essentially specialize in the same thing — being a dynamic scorer who can create his own offense but is less than stellar on defense.
Does shelling out over $30 million per year for both players make sense? It appears Utah prefers Clarkson, so if there's an opportunity for an all-in trade, expect Sexton to be part of the equation.
Simone Fontecchio
It's going to be difficult to find a path to playing time for the second-year Jazzman in this upcoming season. Also, with an expiring contract, the Jazz should take advantage of using that money to help facilitate an exchange.
Unless he makes huge strides in development, expect Fontecchio's days to be numbered in Salt Lake City.
