The Utah Jazz dropped from first to second in the Western Conference standings on Sunday following a loss to the Denver Nuggets. Today, we take a look at the current Western Conference standings and the movement that could occur in the week ahead.

The Clippers, Jazz, and Lakers have already created separation from the rest of the Western Conference. The Nuggets are the clear next-best team behind the top three and the most legitimate threat to gain ground on the top three throughout the course of the season.

Let's take a look at the upcoming schedule (Monday-Sunday) for the Jazz, Clippers, Lakers, and Nuggets and how that could impact the standings.

Utah Jazz - vs Detroit, @ Atlanta, @ Charlotte, @ Indiana

The Jazz will play four winnable games this week. Their four opponents are a combined 35-44 this season. The Jazz could reclaim the top spot in the west if they take care of business.

LA Clipplers - @ Nets, @ Cavaliers, vs Celtics, vs Kings

The Clippers travel to the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday in the most difficult matchup, on paper, of the week. They also play a back-to-back on Wednesday against the Cavaliers before returning home for the weekend.

LA Lakers - @ Atlanta Hawks, vs Denver Nuggets, vs Detroit Pistons

The Lakers face a similar schedule to the Jazz. The Lakers will take on three teams that the Jazz will have played over eight days. This week, either the Lakers or Nuggets are guaranteed a loss given their head-to-head matchup - that will help the Jazz in the standings.

Denver Nuggets - vs Detroit Pistons, @ LA Lakers, @ Sacramento Kings

Like we mentioned above, either the Nuggets or the Lakers are guaranteed one loss this week.
