The Sacramento Kings have had immense success over the past two seasons, many fans tracing the success back to two significant changes: the hiring of head coach Mike Brown and the trade to acquire All-Star big man Domantas Sabonis. After 16 consecutive playoffless seasons, the Kings are back toward the top of the Pacific Division and amid a competitive Western Conference playoff picture.

Despite being oddly omitted from the 2024 All-Star Game, Sabonis is having one of the best statistical seasons the league has ever seen. As a 43-win team with eight games remaining, Sabonis and star teammate De'Aaron Fox have changed the Kings into a team capable of postseason basketball.

Sabonis, 27, is averaging 19.6 points, 13.6 rebounds, and 8.3 assists per game, officially joining NBA legend Wilt Chamberlain as the two lone players to grab 1000+ rebounds and dish out 600+ assists in a single season, per Josh Dubow of the Associated Press.

It remains a mystery how Sabonis did not get an All-Star nod this season, as Sacramento's big man has consistently remained a top-ten MVP candidate. Besides breaking the record for most consecutive double-doubles since the NBA-ABA merger with 57 and counting, Sabonis continues to stuff the stat sheet with numbers not seen since the 1960s.

While Sabonis does almost everything for Sacramento, one of his most valuable traits is his availability, playing all 74 games this season. His value to the Kings is unmatched, making an unprecedented impact while getting little recognition from national media.

Sabonis continues to join Hall of Fame company with his impressive stats this season, and joining the likes of Wilt Chamberlain adds to his legacy.
