It was a good night to be a fan of the Sacramento Kings during Friday’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Despite the team missing out on their All-NBA G De’Aaron Fox for the fifth-straight game, the guys were able to pull out their first In-Season Tournament win 105-98, vaulting them back to the .500 mark on the season.

The night was headlined for the Kings by the performance we saw from C Domantas Sabonis. In his 38 minutes played on the night, he posted a triple-double worth 17 points, 13 rebounds, and 13 assists, along with a steal and two blocks. It marks the first triple-double of the season for the eight-year league vet, but some other historical implications lie within it as well.

Friday night was his 15th time reaching a triple-double since joining the Sacramento back in 2022, good enough for second on the all-time leaderboard for the franchise. Sabonis now jumps ahead of former Kings F Chris Webber, who previously held the spot with 14.

Sabonis reaching the milestone in just 102 games played with the franchise is a pretty impressive feat. It goes to show the substantial impact he’s provided on all ends of the floor, effectively pushing this team to higher heights a season ago than it's seen since the early 2000s.

However, it’ll be a borderline unfathomable task for him to move any further up the list past two, given that the top spot is locked down by the great Oscar Robertson at 176.

The Big O's triple-double total during his time with the Royals alone is good enough for the second-most in league history. It’s nothing to take away from Sabonis, but topping those numbers is a tough nut to crack. Still, placing right behind the man who made the stat what it is today is a solid consolation prize to take home.

Sabonis will continue to build on his 2023-24 campaign on Monday when the Kings take on the Cleveland Cavaliers at the Golden One Center.
