Injury Report Revealed for Kings In-Season Tournament Debut vs. OKC
The Sacramento Kings are off to an average 3-4 start to their 2023-24 season, putting them ninth in the Western Conference standings a couple of weeks into the season. On Friday, they are set to match up against a young, electric Oklahoma City Thunder squad in their first-ever In-Season Tournament game.
The Thunder will be a tough matchup as they visit Golden 1 Center, but Mike Brown and a short-handed Kings team will give them a fight. Sacramento will have to face Oklahoma City without All-Star G De'Aaron Fox, who is set to miss his fifth consecutive game, dealing with an ankle sprain.
Full Kings vs. Thunder Injury Report 11/10
Kings:
G De'Aaron Fox - OUT (ankle)
F Trey Lyles - OUT (calf)
Thunder:
F Kenrich Williams - OUT (back)
F Keyontae Johnson - OUT (two-way)
The Kings are 1-3 in Fox's absence this season, as they desperately need him to return to action as soon as possible. Fans hoped he would have been able to return to the court as early as last week, but there is still no confirmed timetable.
With Fox sidelined, fans are robbed of an elite point guard matchup, with Thunder G Shai Gilgeous-Alexander on the other side. An undersized Kings squad will have a tough time matching up with a lengthy Oklahoma City lineup, especially with Fox and Lyles on the bench.
Kings HC Mike Brown will have another lineup decision in Fox's absence. In the first three games without him, G Davion Mitchell replaced him in the starting lineup, but the Kings were 0-3. In Wednesday's game against the Portland Trail Blazers, Brown switched it up and started two-way G Keon Ellis, which resulted in a win.
Brown picks his lineups in a strategic matchup-oriented way, so he will have to choose someone to attempt to guard Gilgeous-Alexander, a challenging task.
Even though Fox is sidelined, this is an exciting matchup between two young, up-and-coming Western Conference teams as the Kings make their In-Season Tournament debut. Oklahoma City made their In-Season Tournament debut last Friday, as they were taken down by the Golden State Warriors, starting 0-1 in Group Play.
The Kings host the Thunder on Friday at 7 P.M. PT/10 P.M. ET.
