Kings Cruise Past Nuggets as Fox and Sabonis Set Milestones
The Sacramento Kings devoured the Denver Nuggets in a blowout 135-106 win on Friday night, snapping a 2-game losing streak after a disastrous loss to the Detroit Pistons.
C Domantas Sabonis recorded yet another triple-double with 17 points, 17 rebounds, and 10 assists. This marked Sabonis' 16th triple-double on the season and made him the sole NBA leader, surpassing C Nikola Jokic.
Jokic led the Nuggets scoring with a game-high (tied with G Malik Monk) 23 points, as well as 8 rebounds and 7 assists. The Nuggets' loss marked an end to their 3-game win streak, and they will attempt to get revenge on the Kings in just 5 days on February 14.
Malik Monk led the Kings scoring, also with 23 points. Monk shot 9-13 on FG's and 3-7 from beyond the arc. Monk is in the midst of a hot streak, scoring over 20 points in 4 of his last 5 games, with the outlier being just shy with 18 points. The Kings overall shot 58.6% from the field and 50% from three.
G De'Aaron Fox had another big defensive game. On top of his 15 points and 10 assists, Fox had 5 steals. Fox has 21 steals in his last 5 games and also surpassed 600 career steals.
The Kings improved to 30-21 on the season, and are on pace for a 48-win season. They will look to make a streak out of Friday's win on Sunday, February 11 against the Oklahoma City Thunder as they begin a 3-game road trip.
