Domantas Sabonis Will Join HOF Company With Dominant March
The Sacramento Kings have picked up their slack this month, winning eight of twelve outings in March and holding opponents to just 109.1 points per game, compared to their season-long 116.3. Sacramento's defense is not the only highlight of their month, as the emergence of Keon Ellis and the dominance of Domantas Sabonis have been extraordinary.
Sabonis has been one of the most consistent players in the league this season, cementing himself as a top-ten MVP candidate. The 27-year-old big man leads the league in double-doubles (66), triple-doubles (24), and rebounds per game (13.7).
In March, Sabonis is averaging 20.3 points, 16.3 rebounds, and 7.5 assists per game, on pace to be the second player in league history to average 20/15/5 in a calendar month, joining only NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley (via @StatMamba | X).
In Saturday's road win over the Orlando Magic, Sabonis finished with 21 points, 14 rebounds, and 8 assists, notching his 53rd consecutive triple-double to tie the NBA record set by Kevin Love in 2011. Sabonis is set to break the record in Monday's home matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers.
As long as Sabonis does not severely slow down his scoring in the last four games of the month, the star big man will join Hall of Fame company with the double-double record and the 20/15/5 mark, making for a historic March.
