Kings Emerge as Frontrunner in All-Star F Pascal Siakam Trade
The Sacramento Kings are looking to make some noise to upgrade their team before the trade deadline on February 8 and officially placed F Harrison Barnes, G Kevin Huerter, and G Davion Mitchell on the trade block on January 5. Furthermore, They are looking to add an All-Star forward, as they emerge as a "serious suitor" for Toronto Raptors F Pascal Siakam, according to Shams Charania.
Siakam is averaging 22.4 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 4.9 assists on 52.1/28.8/75.1 shooting splits this season.
The addition of Pascal Siakam would create a lethal big 3 with All-Stars G De'Aaron Fox and C Domantas Sabonis and would push the Kings from a playoff team to a serious contender. The only concern is that Siakam's hefty $38 million contract is set to expire after this season, and there is no guarantee he will re-sign with the team after that - ultimately letting Siakam control his destiny.
With the Raptors visiting the Kings tonight at Golden 1 Center, there will be a lot of noise in Sacramento over a future King. Pay attention to how Pascal interacts with Kings players post-game to see what vibe is given off.
To push the trade through, it likely will take at least 2 of the three Kings on the trade block, as well as a first-round pick or two.
There are still other contenders for Pascal around the league, so the Kings will have to make a good offer and connect with him to get this deal through. The Kings are also linked to other forwards like Washinton Wizards' Kyle Kuzma and Utah Jazz' Lauri Markkanen, but it appears that Pascal Siakam has emerged as the front-runner.
