Kings' Malik Monk Heavy Favorite To Win Sixth Man of the Year
The Sacramento Kings have had an eventful season full of ups and downs, but the highlights have certainly been the electric trio of De'Aaron Fox, Domantas Sabonis, and Malik Monk. Despite no All-Star appearances out of Sacramento this season, the Kings stars have been putting on a show.
After finishing top five in NBA Sixth Man of the Year voting in the 2022-23 season, Monk has improved about every aspect of his game this year to attempt to take the throne.
FanDuel Sportsbook has Monk as the heavy favorite to win the 2023-24 NBA Sixth Man of the Year at -115 odds, surpassing Dallas Mavericks' Tim Hardaway Jr., who is second at +180.
Monk, 26, is having a career-best season, averaging 15.1 points and 5.3 assists, both career-highs. Monk is nearing the end of just his second year in Sacramento but has emerged as a fan favorite due to his high intensity and highlight plays. Sacramento's sixth man is more than just a human highlight reel, as his impact on the game mostly goes unnoticed.
Monk is a pending 2024 free agent, as the Kings should do everything in their power to retain the talented guard. Monk will certainly be bringing home his first NBA award this season, but this championship-minded Kings squad has more on their mind.
