Kings' Mike Brown Praises Keegan Murray’s Performance in Win Over Nets
Monday night marked a big night for the Sacramento Kings, as they took home their 13th regular season win of the season against the Brooklyn Nets, 131-118.
It was a night when Sacramento’s offensive unit shined through just as they did through last season. Four players on the team made four or more threes in the contest, highlighted by a 29-point outing from De’Aaron Fox.
However, it was also a big night for second-year forward Keegan Murray, who was a big part of the squad's success in this one. Sean Cunningham and FOX40 Sports caught Sacramento coach Mike Brown speaking at the podium following the Kings’ win, kicking off the presser by handing out some positive words to Murray:
“Keegan [Murray] was great, again. We're asking him to guard Mikal Bridges and then, [say] ‘Hey, you gotta give it to us offensively.' Tonight, he showed that he can be a high-level two-way player because, again, it’s not like we’re asking him to guard their third or fourth-best player. He’s guarding their best player on the perimeter, on that wing position that can move, and shoot, and handle, and create. So, a heck of a job from him on both ends of the floor tonight."
Murray finished the night with a strong 24 points, three rebounds, and three assists, all on 9/13 shooting from the field and a perfect 4/4 from beyond the arc. He, along with the rest of the Kings had an amazing night shooting the ball, draining a franchise-record 25 threes on an elite 55.6% clip.
The former Iowa Hawkeye ended up sidelined in a few games at the end of last month, but after finding his way back into the lineup, it seems he hasn’t lost a step. In his four games since returning from injury, he’s averaging 14.8 points at a stellar 45.8% rate.
If the Kings can maintain anywhere close to the offensive production they did on Monday, they’ll be a tough assignment for any team in the league. Sacramento’s next matchup comes quickly as they’ll travel south to take on the Los Angeles Clippers at 7:30 PT.
