The Sacramento Kings went into the New Year as headliners for many potential trades around the league, but the rumors have dwindled as they inch closer to Thursday's trade deadline. Many fans believe the Kings need to make changes to succeed this season, and to an extent, they are correct.

The Kings are an impressive team at times, but they do not have the complete roster to compete with the top four teams in the Western Conference in a seven-game playoff series. With the trade deadline just days away, a move could be imminent.

Bleacher Report has realized Sacramento's problem. Their solution would be to go out and snag Alex Caruso from the Chicago Bulls, naming the Kings as the "top landing spot" for the talented Chicago guard.

Caruso would be the perfect backup to

De'Aaron Fox

, someone who could join the star guard on the court for stretches while taking on the toughest defensive assignment. Both Fox and

Domantas Sabonis

could find him for open shots as well.

A leaky defense ultimately doomed the Kings' magical season in 2022-23. While it's been better this year, Caruso could truly make it playoff-worthy while bringing some juice to the offensive end as well.

The Kings' defense certainly has improved from last season's mess, but a defensive specialist in Caruso could be a game-changer. With Fox and standout sophomore Keegan Murray improving on that end, Sacramento could become a defensive powerhouse if they pick up another lockdown defender.

Caruso has improved his jump shot and overall offensive game, as he is no longer limited in that aspect of the game. The 6'5" guard is shooting 40.5% from deep this season, averaging 10.0 points, 2.8 assists, and 3.6 rebounds per game.

Bleacher Report suggests Caruso would become the backup point guard in Sacramento, but a starting lineup of Fox, Caruso, Murray, Harrison Barnes, and Sabonis would certainly be something to experiment with.

The notable problem with acquiring Caruso is Chicago's reported asking price. According to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, the Bulls seek "the equivalent of two first-round picks" in exchange for Caruso. The defensive stopper is under contract until the 2025 off-season, making a team-friendly $9.89 million next season.

Realistically, the Kings do not have the assets that Chicago would want in return for Caruso, but if a potential deal arose, Sacramento would have to jump on it.
